Travel by boat through the Tonle Sap Lake and Sangker River to Battambang, near the Thai border. This quiet town is filled with colonial buildings and has a rugged charm. In the evening, visit Phare Ponleu Selpak, an organization helping disadvantaged youth, where you can spend time at the arts center. On Thursday nights, attend a original circus created by the kids which is sure to be a highlight of your Cambodia tour.

The next morning, take the unique bamboo train through the countryside for an exhilarating ride past rice fields and small villages. Visit Meahto Phum Ko'mah, a non-profit NGO working hard to reintegrate vulnerable children back into society. Return to Siem Reap by road in the late afternoon on the fifth day of your Cambodia tour. Before departing, there is an option to visit Artisans d'Angkor where techniques of Khmer traditional are being kept alive through training programs and workshops.
